A federal magistrate judge formally ordered that James “Whitey’’ Bulger’s longtime companion, Catherine Greig, be held without bail pending her trial. But US Magistrate Judge Jennifer Boal issued the order without prejudice, meaning Greig has more time to state her case for bail. “Indeed (during a hearing Wednesday) the defendant indicated that she intended to present additional material for consideration by this court regarding her proposed conditions of release,’’ Boal said in an order issued Friday. She said Greig’s lawyer, Kevin J. Reddington, can seek to amend the order once he is ready to present more information in the case. Prosecutors would then have three days to respond. Greig was arrested with Bulger in Santa Monica, Calif., on June 22, and had been with him during most of the past 16 years.![]()
