A 7-year-old Shrewsbury boy has died of injuries sustained last week at an outdoor swimming pool at St. John’s High School, according to the office of Worcester District Attorney Joseph D. Early Jr. Aaditya Basrur died at 7:30 p.m. Monday at UMass Memorial Medical Center in Worcester. Aaditya was in the pool Thursday as part of Camp St. John, a day program for 5-to-12-year-old children held at St. John’s, officials said. He had been participating in an open swim with about 40 other children. An autopsy will be performed. The incident remains under investigation, Early’s office said. St. John’s High officials released a statement, saying, “The entire Saint John’s camp community is deeply saddened by the tragic death of Aaditya Basrur.’’ Camp will be closed today for scheduled activities but open for grief counseling.![]()
