WELLFLEET
Gary Cedarquist said he was “absolutely devastated’’ when he lost his $4,000 wedding band during a family outing to a Wellfleet beach last weekend. Frantic searches last Saturday were fruitless. Out of other options and fearing that the white gold, diamond-studded band was gone forever, Cedarquist told The Cape Cod Times he called Suzanne Grout Thomas, Wellfleet Beach administrator. She called the “king of metal detectors,’’ Alan Hight, retired Wellfleet fire chief. Hight swept his top-of-the line metal detector over the sands of White Crest Beach for an hour before he heard a telltale beep and found the ring buried 6 inches deep. (AP)![]()
