Girl, 10, struck by car and seriously hurt

A 10-year-old girl was struck by a car on Matawanakee Trail in Littleton about 6 p.m. yesterday and suffered injuries believed to be life-threatening, said Littleton Fire Chief Steve Carter. Police, an off-duty firefighter, and an ambulance arrived at the scene within minutes, Carter said. The girl was taken to Children’s Hospital Boston by medical helicopter, he said. The accident was under investigation yesterday.
