US Representative William R. Keating says the tourist and fishing economies of Cape Cod and the South Shore could be hurt if funding to waste-water management is cut. The Democrat, who represents the two coastal regions, says the House of Representatives is set to vote when it returns in September to cut the Drinking Water State Revolving Fund and the Clean Water State Revolving Fund. These protect drinking water and maintain and improve waste-water infrastructure and management. Pollution from improper waste-water management can lead to wildlife deaths, poor water quality for swimming, and bans on shellfishing. Keating plans to rally with environmental advocates and residents at Veterans Memorial Park in Hyannis today to maintain funding and regulations.![]()
