Arson has been ruled out as the cause of a fire that gutted a Colonial-era inn in Groton last week, and investigators say the real cause may never be known. Town Manager Mark Haddad said lightning has also been ruled out as the cause of the multi-alarm blaze at the Old Groton Inn on Aug. 2. He told The Sun of Lowell that the likely cause is electrical, but even that is not certain. He said investigators concluded their work last week. No one was hurt in the blaze at the 333-year-old inn, which operated only as a restaurant. (AP)
