Dartmouth man dies in single-car crash

A Dartmouth man died in a single-car crash on Route 140 southbound early yesterday, State Police said. Clifford J. Botelho Jr., 33, was driving a Jeep Commander that drifted off the left side of the road onto the median, hitting several trees, according to a statement released by police. Botelho was the vehicle’s sole occupant and was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the statement. The crash occurred near Exit 7 at about 3:40 a.m. Preliminary investigation suggests that Botelho was not wearing a seat belt.
