A State Police K-9 unit, with a dog and trooper inside, was hit by lightning yesterday afternoon at Logan Airport as thunderstorms rumbled through Boston. The department-issued Ford 150 pickup truck carrying Trooper Randy Enos and his K-9 partner, Chipp, was struck by lightning while the pair were on routine patrol of an area on Perimeter Road, State Police said. Both were being evaluated as a precaution, the trooper at Massachusetts General Hospital and the dog by a vet, police said. Responding troopers found the truck’s electronics and electrical system had been severely damaged, making it clear that the truck was hit by a lightning strike.
