A former Alabama professor accused of killing three colleagues and wounding three others during a faculty meeting is due in court for a hearing. The clerk’s office says Amy Bishop is set for a hearing Thursday morning in Huntsville. The reason for the hearing is not clear, since the case is sealed. Bishop faces a possible death penalty if convicted of opening fire at the University of Alabama in Huntsville in February 2010. Her lawyer indicates that an insanity defense is likely. The Harvard-educated Bishop is jailed without bond. Separately, Bishop is charged in the fatal shooting of her brother in Massachusetts in 1986. The killing was originally ruled an accident, but authorities reopened the case and filed a murder charge after the Alabama slayings. (AP)
