Patriot Place evacuated over gas leak

About 350 shoppers and hotel guests were evacuated for nearly an hour from Patriot Place shopping center in Foxborough because of a gas leak yesterday, firefighters said. Foxborough Fire Department Captain David Healy said a pushcart barreled down a ramp and struck a valve, causing the leak just before noon. He said firefighters cleared the Renaissance Hotel & Spa and three stores, forcing hundreds to wait in a parking lot for about 45 minutes while an emergency crew from Columbia Gas shut off the meter.
