ATTLEBORO, Mass.—An Attleboro city councilor has been indicted on charges of stealing from a retired judge she once served as a caretaker.
Kim Allard was indicted by a grand jury Tuesday on two counts of larceny from an elder.
Authorities allege that the 41-year-old Allard convinced retired Probate Court Judge Edward F. Casey to buy a house and hand over the deed to her for $1.
Bill Bowles, a former city councilor and state representative who was conservator for Casey's estate, tells The Sun Chronicle ( http://bit.ly/pxy1QX) that as a result of the transaction, Casey now lives in assisted living facility with limited financial options.
Allard said she looks forward to proving her innocence.
A civil lawsuit in the case was resolved in November with Allard required to make payments on the house.
