LOWELL, Mass.—Lowell police say a car driven by a teenage girl has struck two pedestrians, seriously injuring them.

Capt. Randall Humphrey says the car hit a woman in her mid-40s who was crossing Mammoth Road near 8th Avenue on Sunday afternoon. He says the vehicle continued on for about 20 more feet before it struck a woman in her early 20s who was getting into her parked car.

The two women hit by the car were taken to a hospital with serious injuries. The driver of the car and one of her three passengers were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The crash is under investigation.

Lowell is the fourth-largest city in Massachusetts and is located about 30 miles north of Boston.
