Acushnet woman charged with court interference

NEW BEDFORD, Mass.—An assistant clerk at New Bedford District Court has been charged with interfering with the investigation into her husband and son, who have been accused of a vicious beating.

Ilene Adams of Acushnet is scheduled to arraigned Oct. 20 on charges of forgery and obstruction of justice. A state courts spokeswoman says she was suspended with pay last week, but had been on administrative leave since July.

The Taunton Daily Gazette ( reports she is expected to be arraigned on charges of forgery of a document, altering a court record and obstruction of justice through the witness intimidation statute.

Her husband and son are charged with beating a man last May they thought stole money from their daughter and sister. They have pleaded not guilty.
