NEW BEDFORD, Mass.—An assistant clerk at New Bedford District Court has been charged with interfering with the investigation into her husband and son, who have been accused of a vicious beating.
Ilene Adams of Acushnet is scheduled to arraigned Oct. 20 on charges of forgery and obstruction of justice. A state courts spokeswoman says she was suspended with pay last week, but had been on administrative leave since July.
The Taunton Daily Gazette ( http://bit.ly/qphO9q) reports she is expected to be arraigned on charges of forgery of a document, altering a court record and obstruction of justice through the witness intimidation statute.
Her husband and son are charged with beating a man last May they thought stole money from their daughter and sister. They have pleaded not guilty.
