BOSTON—A Boston law school has recovered about $173,000 that a former administrator pleaded guilty to embezzling and has instituted safeguards to protect against future thefts.
John F. O'Brien, dean of New England Law Boston, made the announcement in an email to staff and students last week.
The email was obtained by The Boston Globe ( http://b.globe.com/q59K9B)
The 103-year-old school was formerly known as New England School of Law.
O'Brien did not specify how the money was recovered.
Douglas Leman, the school's former controller, pleaded guilty last week in federal court in Boston to charges that he stole the funds between September 2008 and March. The 46-year-old Leman is scheduled to be sentenced Jan. 13.
