Van driver seriously hurt in accident

One person was critically injured in a fiery crash on the Lynnway in Lynn early this morning. The accident occurred near the Porthole Restaurant, as a car hit a van that was backing out of a residential driveway, said David Procopio, a State Police spokesman. The driver of the van, whose name was not released, was taken to Massachusetts General Hospital with life-threatening injuries, Procopio said. The driver of the car was not seriously injured. No arrests were made, and police are investigating the cause of the crash.
