A private plane clipped trees yesterday while attempting to land on a private airstrip, causing the plane to crash and injuring the pilot, said Arlene Salac, spokeswoman for the Federal Aviation Administration. The pilot, who was alone in the single-engine aircraft, was hospitalized with injuries not believed to be life-threatening, Salac said. The crash is under investigation by the FAA, police said.
