Jury picking begins in terrorism plot case
Supporters of Tarek Mehanna waited outside the John J. Moakley Federal Courthouse in Boston yesterday. Mehanna is being tried on charges of conspiring to support terrorists.

The judge hopes to finalize a pool of about 40 suitable jurors before lawyers begin to select a final panel of 12 jurors and four alternates. Officials would not say how far along they are in the process, but indicated they are making progress and that a final jury can be empanelled and opening statements could occur as soon as Thursday.
