The judge hopes to finalize a pool of about 40 suitable jurors before lawyers begin to select a final panel of 12 jurors and four alternates. Officials would not say how far along they are in the process, but indicated they are making progress and that a final jury can be empanelled and opening statements could occur as soon as Thursday.
