Mass. funds additional doses of free flu shots
The state is increasing the number of flu vaccines it provides, with additional funding provided to the Massachusetts Department of Public Health, officials said. The agency received $850,000 in supplemental funding from the Legislature for the purchase of adult vaccines. The extra funds are boosting the number of flu shots available from 856,000 to almost 1 million, said Julia Hurley, spokeswoman for the agency. The amount of vaccine now available is now about the same as in other years, Hurley said.
