LUNENBURG, Mass.—The Massachusetts fire marshal says an elderly woman has died and another woman was injured in a house fire in the rural community of Lunenburg.
Fire Marshal Stephen Coan says the fire broke out Sunday in an area that lost electricity during the snow storm, but it was too soon to say whether the fire was related to the weather.
Coan says the woman who escaped the burning house was hospitalized in serious condition and they had not had a chance to interview her. The names of the women were not immediately released.
Coan says the blaze was in a remote area where the storm had knocked down many limbs, making it difficult for crews to quickly reach the fire on New West Townsend Road.
