Construction of a replica barn at the historic Marion Tavern at Grand View Farm is expected to be complete by the end of this month. The project was originally targeted for completion by early last month, but the work was delayed by poor weather conditions, according to the assistant town manager, Thomas Hickey. He said the new building is fully enclosed, and the exterior roofing and painting work has been completed. Workers also have installed the interior insulation, and the electrical, heating, air conditioning, and sprinkler systems, and are now installing wallboard. Remaining work will include painting and other interior finishing. Hickey said the project, which is being funded with a $895,448 Town Meeting appropriation, remains on budget. The 6-acre Grand View site, which was historically used as a farm and at one time as a tavern, was acquired by the town in 2001. - John Laidler ![]()
