New library director on job

Alan Thibeault was recently named director of the Peabody Institute Library of Danvers, replacing Douglas Rendell, who retired on Oct. 28 after 21 years in the position. A Jamaica Plain resident, Thibeault served as director of the Winthrop Public Library for nearly three years until assuming his Danvers position on Nov. 1. Previously, he worked in the Boston Herald’s library for 15 years, and before that was on active duty in the US Army for 10 years, leaving as a captain. - John Laidler
