Bill Linehan and his challenger, Suzanne Lee, requested documents yesterday from Boston’s Election Department that will allow the campaigns to formally request a recount. The preliminary tally separating the two candidates was 5,065 votes for Linehan and 4,978 votes for Lee, which represented a difference of less than 1 percent of the 10,084 votes cast. “Everybody worked so hard on the election,’’ Lee said yesterday. “We just want to make sure every vote is counted.’’
