House fire in Stow claims life of 98-year-old woman
Retired teacher said to be town’s oldest woman
Stow is grieving after a 98-year-old believed to be the town’s oldest woman died Wednesday in a fire that consumed part of the home she shared with her son. The woman was identified by friends and neighbors as Dorothy Weiss. They described the retired teacher from Ohio as a sharp-minded town institution who took great pride in signing her letters, “Stow’s oldest woman.’’ The fire, which heavily damaged but did not destroy the home, is still being investigated.
