BOSTON—Former Massachusetts House Speaker Salvatore DiMasi and a co-defendant are scheduled to report to federal prison this week to begin serving sentences in their public corruption case.

DiMasi and Richard McDonough last week lost a bid to postpone the date they are due to report to prison. Both men are scheduled to report by noon Wednesday to prisons designated by the Bureau of Prisons.

DiMasi was convicted of extortion, honest services fraud and conspiracy for accepting kickbacks in exchange for using his political position to steer state contracts to a software company.

DiMasi was sentenced to eight years, while McDonough received a seven-year sentence for his participation in the conspiracy.
