Councilor Bill Linehan faced a recount and complaints about his role heading the council’s Redistricting Committee.
Bill Linehan, who narrowly defeated Suzanne Lee of Chinatown in District 2 in the council election last month, acknowledged that questions about the proposal are valid but insisted that he never intended to gain an electoral edge. “With all due respect to the press, but how can you dictate why and how I did the map?’’ Linehan asked after the council meeting yesterday morning in City Hall. “It appears that could be, you know, gerrymandering or whatever, and that’s a legitimate response. But … I didn’t do it for those reasons.’’
