Mass. woman pleads guilty to raping 4 sons
BOSTON—A Lowell woman whose conviction was overturned by the state Appeals Court last month has pleaded guilty to allegations that she and her husband drugged and raped their four sons in 1997.
Nancy Adkinson pleaded guilty Tuesday to several counts of child rape, indecent assault and battery on a child as well as distributing cocaine to a minor.
A Middlesex Superior Court judge sentenced the 49-year-old woman to 15 to 16 years in prison, all deemed served.
She was also ordered to have no contact with the victims, unless they initiate contact.
Adkinson's original conviction was overturned last month after the Appeals Court ruled that her Sixth Amendment right to counsel was violated and she may have been incompetent to stand trial.
The appeals court confirmed her husband's conviction.
