Grant for elder services
Senior, family, and handicapped housing in Plymouth will benefit from a federal grant awarded to Old Colony Elder Services, a Brockton-based regional elder services provider. Old Colony, one of five agencies awarded a grant under the Resident Opportunities and Supportive Services program, will get $240,000 over three years. The money will allow for full-time Old Colony staff coverage at Northfield and Highcliff housing sites in Plymouth, which are overseen by the Plymouth Housing Authority. The additional staff will help increase collaboration among service providers and ensure that residents’ needs are met. Educational programs funded by the grant money focus on financial literacy, credit counseling, chronic disease self-management and emergency preparedness training. - Christine Legere![]()
