Mehanna defense to sum up case

The defense team in the terrorism trial of Tarek Mehanna could rest its case some time next week, following the questioning of scholars in Islamic law and the history of Al Qaeda. Responding to more than five weeks of prosecution witnesses, lawyers for the 29-year-old Mehanna have sought to use the testimony of terrorism analysts and scholars of Islam and Al Qaeda to argue that their client was a young, budding scholar, and not the radical terrorist supporter as prosecutors have alleged.
