To a large degree, one single mother who wrote to Globe Santa this year has grown up right alongside her oldest son. She was still a teenager when she gave birth to her first child and had no idea that their future would include so much hardship and struggle. But the young mother’s life and that of her two sons - her second child is 4-years-old - has been marked first by abandonment and then by tragedy.
