BOSTON—Massachusetts political leaders are marking the first night of Hanukkah with the annual menorah lighting at the Statehouse.

Gov. Deval Patrick joined House Speaker Robert DeLeo and Senate President Therese Murray for the Tuesday event.

The lighting took place in Nurses Hall at the Statehouse.

The three helped light the center candle and then the first candle of the menorah.

Secretary of State William Galvin, Attorney General Martha Coakley and Treasurer Steve Grossman were also on hand for the traditional ceremony.

Lt. Gov. Timothy Murray planned to attend a menorah lighting in his hometown of Worcester on Tuesday.
