BOSTON—A grand jury has indicted two 18-year-old men for the fatal shooting of a 16-year-old in Boston in an alleged attack prosecutors said was related to a gang dispute.
The indictments returned Wednesday charge Sheldon Mattis and Nyasani Watt with first-degree murder in the death of Jaivon Blake.
Prosecutors say Mattis and Watt were part of a gang known as Flatline. They say that on Sept. 25, Mattis approached a 14-year-old boy to determine if he was from a rival gang, then left.
Prosecutors say Watt later returned on a bike to the boy, who'd been joined by Blake. They say Watt was carrying a gun, which Mattis helped conceal, and fired on the two boys, killing Blake.
Messages were left Thursday night for the attorneys for Mattis and Watt.![]()
