Western Mass. communities inaugurate mayors

HOLYOKE, Mass.—Holyoke is set to install 22-year-old Alex Morse as its next mayor, making him the youngest chief executive officer in the history of the western Massachusetts city.

Lt. Gov. Timothy Murray is among dignitaries scheduled to attend Tuesday's inauguration at Holyoke High School.

The recent Brown University graduate claimed defeated Mayor Elaine Pluta in November elections.

Several other western Massachusetts communities are also set to inaugurate mayors, including Chicopee's Michael Bissonnette who will be sworn in Monday.

Others include Springfield's Domenic Sarno who is schedule to take an oath of office on Tuesday, expanding his term from two years to four years under a recent charter change.

Northampton's David Narkewicz, Easthampton's Michael Tautznik, Agawam's Richard Cohen and West Springfield's Gregory Neffinger are also expected to be inaugurated Tuesday.
