GOP's Tisei off to strong fundraising start
BOSTON—Republican congressional candidate Richard Tisei (tih-SAY') is off to a strong fundraising start in his campaign to oust Democratic U.S. Rep. John Tierney.
The former GOP state senator reports raising more than $300,000 as of the end of December.
Tisei `s filing with the Federal Election Commission shows he has about $256,000 left in cash in his campaign account heading into the election year.
Tierney reported having about $441,000 in his account as of the end of September. The campaign hasn't yet filed a report for the end of the year.
Tisei, a real estate agent, most recently ran for lieutenant governor with GOP gubernatorial candidate Charles Baker in 2010.
Last year was a difficult one for Tierney, whose wife served a 30-day prison sentence for helping file false tax returns for her fugitive brother.![]()
