FITCHBURG, Mass.—A museum in Fitchburg has opened its doors to local farmers in a business move that allows patrons to buy fresh vegetables at the same place they peruse classic art.
The Fitchburg Winter Farmers Market at the Fitchburg Art Museum was inspired by Sheila Lumi, the farmers market manager and also a member at the museum.
She tells the Telegram & Gazette (http://bit.ly/xlUKEV) that the museum showcases local culture, and that the market is part of that with its vendors, farmers and craft-makers.
The January market offered museumgoers everything from cake balls on lollipop sticks to alpaca yarn.
The farmers market plans to offer hot food in the February event at the museum.![]()
