Mayor Ted Bettenecourt recently named Darryl Ann McCarthy as his new executive secretary. McCarthy, who assumed the post Jan. 23, is a lifelong Peabody resident who previously worked as an office manager and legal assistant at Boston law firms. She has long been active in the community, as an elected library trustee for two six-year terms and as president of the Carroll School parent-teacher organization. McCarthy replaced Dianne Marchese, who is now working part time for the Healthy Peabody Collaborative, a program that promotes healthy lifestyles in the city. Mary Bellavance will continue as administrative assistant to the mayor. Christopher Ryder is Bettencourt’s chief of staff. - John Laidler
