An article proposing changes to a zoning bylaw has been dropped from Wednesday’s Special Town Meeting warrant, disappointing some local business owners. Selectmen withdrew the proposed amendment, which would have allowed shops at 9 Kendall Road to display lighted “open” signs in their windows, an option not allowed in their designated B-2 business zone. The 1-square-mile area contains some residential neighborhoods. In researching his proposed amendment, Selectman Bob Jackson discovered similar inconsistencies within several areas, leading to a discussion of what some in town are calling a long overdue review of the zoning districts. - Karen Sackowitz
