A prominent Boston philanthropist business yesterday defended comments he made last year in support of Syrian President Bashar Assad, whose crackdown on protesters has stirred international condemnation. The comments by Bobby Sager, chairman of Polaroid Corp. and globe-trotting head of his own charity, came to light when one of his emails to a senior aide to Assad appeared on the internet after a hacker collective published the logins and passwords to personal accounts of senior Syrian officials.
