Jury starts deliberating in Lynn slaying case
SALEM, Mass.—A jury has started deliberating in the trial of a man accused of beating another man to death in a dispute over a parking space.
The case against Fernando Aristy went to the jury Monday. Jurors in Salem Superior Court are expected to continue deliberations Tuesday.
Aristy is charged with murder in connection with the death of Chad McDonald Sr.
Police say Aristy struck McDonald several times in the head with a wooden board in October 2010 outside a Lynn warehouse. Aristy's vehicle was reportedly blocking the doorway to the business where McDonald worked. McDonald died of his injuries 11 days later.
The prosecutor in closing statements Monday said Aristy was the aggressor.
The Daily Item ( http://bit.ly/Ag6Ath) reports that a defense attorney says Aristy acted in self-defense.
