We are writing in response to the article “Turbine plan surprised them, residents say’’ (March 8), which reported that one Kingston resident now has a “horrible opinion of the town’’ and also that others are apparently “in shock’’ because the wind turbines caught them by surprise.

Wind turbines are a safe, renewable source of energy, and Kingston is a community that has stepped into the 21st century as a smart-energy role model.

The information we need is readily available in the local papers, at town meetings, on public access television, and at Town Hall meetings all year long. It is sad when one’s first response to change is how it affects one’s property value rather than how it will serve the greater good.

Living in a small town comes with opportunities and obligations. Rather than join in a battle against an issue, join in the effort to create and sustain.
