SPRINGFIELD, Mass.—Springfield police say a man who got stuck in a roof vent while trying to break into a closed restaurant where he once worked lost his pants during the rescue.

Police say 26-year-old Robert Kuhn tried to climb through a vent at Lido Ristorante on Wednesday, but got stuck.

The restaurant's owner, who still lives in an apartment in the building, spotted him at about 10 p.m. and called police. Firefighters freed Kuhn, but his pants apparently got snagged on something inside the vent and he lost them during the rescue.

He was charged with breaking and entering with intent to commit a felony and placed in a police cruiser wearing just boxer shorts and covered in soot and grease.

Lido closed last week after 62 years in business.
