LAWRENCE, Mass.—A registered sex offender is in trouble with the law again after he left his laptop computer in the laundry room of the Lawrence rooming house where he's been living.

Police say the rooming house manager found the laptop, and knowing Gerard Anthony Burbine's past, turned it over to police.

The Eagle-Tribune ( http://bit.ly/N2zRge) reports that police got a search warrant and found what appeared to be child pornography on the computer.

Police Chief John Romero called the discovery "disturbing."

The 70-year-old Burbine is a Level 3 sex offender for a possession of child pornography conviction in Illinois in 2004. Level 3 sex offenders are considered by authorities as the most likely to reoffend.

Burbine is being held on $30,000 bail. It is unclear if he has a lawyer.
