ATTLEBORO, Mass.—A former bass player for a rock band has pleaded guilty to stealing prescription painkillers from an Attleboro pharmacy just hours before his band was scheduled to perform.

Michael Todd, who played for the band Coheed and Cambria at the time of the July robbery, was sentenced Monday in Fall River Superior Court to one year of home confinement and three years of probation. He was also ordered to continue drug treatment.

Authorities say the 31-year-old Todd showed the pharmacist a message on his cellphone saying he had a bomb and demanded drugs. He took a taxi back to the Comcast Center in Mansfield where the band was opening for Soundgarden.

His lawyer tells The Sun Chronicle ( http://bit.ly/Nvhkbo) that Todd has been undergoing voluntary "intensive drug treatment" and the case has derailed his career.
