Mass. groups to get $1.5m to help homeless vets

BOSTON—Five Massachusetts organizations will receive more than $1.5 million from the U.S. Department of Labor to give job training to homeless veterans.

Awarded through the Homeless Veterans Reintegration Program, the funding will go toward helping homeless veterans get occupational, classroom and on-the-job training, as well as job search and placement assistance.

The groups to receive funding are: Volunteers of America of MA, Soldier On, Inc., Interseminarian Project Place, Inc., Veterans Inc. and Father Bill's and Main Spring, Inc.

The funding was announced by U.S. Sens. John Kerry and Scott Brown, and U.S. Reps. James McGovern and William Keating.
