Stoneham’s state legislators are pressing the Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation to reconsider its decision not to open the Hall Memorial swimming pool this summer. Citing low attendance at the pool last year, coupled with budget constraints and the close proximity of public pools in Melrose and Malden, the state agency decided last month that it would not open the Stoneham pool. The DCR had not informed the public, town leaders, or the Stoneham legislative delegation that the closing of the pool was being considered prior to announcing its decision.![]()
