Dead dog found in Brockton yard
BROCKTON, Mass.—Police and animal welfare officials are investigating after one dead dog and three other dogs were found in a squalid and hot Brockton yard without food and water.
Police responded to the home on Sunday afternoon after getting a call from a neighbor.
Animal Control Officer Darren Hand says when officers arrived, one pit bull was already dead and three others were in poor condition. He says temperatures topped 90 on Sunday.
The surviving dogs were taken to a shelter for care.
Hand tells The Enterprise ( http://bit.ly/N3SZrp) the dogs had not been socialized and appeared afraid.
The owner could face animal cruelty charges.
