A Tyngsborough woman is being recognized for her volunteer work at Lowell's House of Hope after being nominated by the organization's executive director. For more than a decade, Barbara Smith has offered her time to prepare and serve meals in the shelter, which provides emergency food, clothing, and other services for families in need in the Lowell area. Now she has been named a Hannaford Health Hero as part of the supermarket chain’s program to highlight Massachusetts volunteers who inspire healthy choices in their community. House of Hope's Deb Chausse nominated Smith; Hannaford is awarding gift cards to both the shelter and to Smith.
