WRENTHAM, Mass.—A Foxborough man has pleaded guilty to a charge that he threatened a local selectman who opposed a casino in the town.

The Norfolk District Attorney's office says Michael Viscardi entered the plea in Wrentham District Court on Thursday to the charge of threatening to commit a crime. He was sentenced to six months in jail but a judge suspended the sentence for one year with probation.

Viscardi, a 40-year-old construction worker, was arrested in April after Selectman Mark Sullivan told police that he was confronted by Viscardi, a neighbor, and told he would be a "dead man" if he did not change his mind and support a casino proposed by Las Vegas casino operator Steve Wynn.

Wynn dropped the plan after casino opponents prevailed in the May town election.
