Mass. police to step up patrols on Rt. 24
BRIDGEWATER, Mass.—Massachusetts authorities are stepping up patrols on Route 24 after a spate of serious and deadly crashes on the highway.
State police and an official from the Department of Transportation are scheduled to outline the plans at a news conference at the Bridgewater service plaza on Thursday. Patrols will also be beefed up Interstate 195.
A 12-year-old girl was killed earlier this month when the vehicle she was riding in flipped over near exit 19 on Route 24.
Two people died last week in a fiery crash on the highway that police believe was caused by a wrong-way driver.
