Farmers market coupon booklets available for seniors

Elder Services of the Merrimack Valley Inc. and Amesbury Senior Center will distribute Senior Farmers Market Nutritional Program coupons Friday from 10 a.m. to noon at 68 Elm St. in Amesbury. The coupons will be distributed first come, first served to eligible seniors. The program will distribute 1,300 coupon booklets valued at $25 each through councils on aging in Merrimack Valley communities according to need. Recipients will receive a list of participating certified farmers markets and must use their coupons by Oct. 1. To be eligible, recipients must be 60 or older, low-income, and be enrolled in one of three low-income assistance programs: Supplementary Social Security Income (SSI) card, Section 8 housing voucher, or an energy assistance program. A valid ID is also required. Contact the Amesbury Senior Center at 978-388-8138 for information.
