A mixed-use proposal for the Josiah Smith Tavern and Old Library was recently submitted to the town. Urbanica Inc., a Boston-based design and development company, would set up a bed and breakfast operation in the tavern, a small restaurant in the barn, and four condominium units in the library, while allowing two nonprofit organizations, the Women’s Community League and Weston Historical Society, to remain as tenants on the town-owned property. A copy of the detailed proposal booklet is available both on the town’s website and at Town Hall. According to Town Manager Donna VanderClock, Urbanica has been invited to present its proposal for the property to the Board of Selectmen on Sept. 11.
